Springfield livestock sales report

The Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Mo., reported receipts of 1,570 head Oct. 14, compared to 1,750 head last week and 1,081 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo.

Compared to last week, steer and heifer calves were $4 to $6 lower, yearlings were $1 to $3 lower on a light test, Holsteins under 600 pounds were steady to $2 lower compared to a light test last week, over 600 pounds were $3 to $5 lower. Demand and supply were moderate to light. The damp, cool weather and lackluster feeder cattle prices has curtailed receipts. The feeder supply included 35% steers, 35% Holsteins, 23% heifers, 6% bulls, with 43% over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 450 to 500 lbs., 93.00 to 98.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 86.50 to 94.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 86.00 to 94.00, calves 80.00 to 89.00; 750 to 800 lbs., 88.50 to 90.50; 800 to 850 lbs., 84.50 to 86.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 450 to 500 lbs., 84.00 to 93.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 83.00 to 89.00; 600 to 650 lbs., 85.00 to 87.00, lot thin 90.00; package 713 lbs., 85.00. Medium and large frame 2, package 470 lbs., 79.50; 550 to 600 lbs., 82.00 to 82.50; package 657 lbs., 82.00; lot 773 lbs., 83.50. Large 1 525 to 600 lbs., 80.50 to 86.00; 625 to 700 lbs., calves 77.00 to 87.00; package 781 lbs., 85.50 package 810 lbs., 80.00.

Holsteins: Large frame 3, package 154 lbs., 71.00; 200 to 300 lbs., 71.00 to 76.00; 350 to 400 lbs., 74.00 to 76.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 65.00 to 78.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 63.50 to 70.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 62.00 to 65.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 63.00 to 64.50; 825 to 850 lbs., 65.00 to 65.50; 900 to 1000 lbs., 58.00 to 64.50.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, package 351 lbs., 90.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 85.00 to 99.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 82.00 to 90.00; package 657 lbs., 82.50, package 686 lbs., calves 78.50;750 to 800 lbs., few 74.50 to 81.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package 395 lbs., 89.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 77.00 to 86.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 75.00 to 83.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 72.00 to 81.00; 770 to 775 lbs., 73.00 to 75.00. Medium and large frame 2, package 486 lbs., thin 82.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 70.00 to 72.00, thin 81.50 to 83.00; package 636 lbs., 79.50; package 745 lbs., 76.00. Large frame 1, package 482 lbs., 77.00; 525 to 600 lbs., 75.00 to 82.00; 625 to 675 lbs., 75.00 to 81.00, package calves 74.00; package 755 lbs., 75.00.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package 385 lbs., 101.00; 550 to 575 lbs., 80.00 to 87.00; 600 to 675 lbs., 79.00 to 83.00; package 847 lbs., 71.00. Large frame 1, 450 to 500 lbs., 86.50 to 90.00.
