North Arkansas livestock sales reportThe North Arkansas Livestock auction, Green Forest, Ark., reported receipts of 649 head Oct. 14, compared to 1,335 head last week and 684 head last year, according to the Arkansas Department of Agriculture-Market News Service, Little Rock, Ark. Compared to last week, slaughter cows and bulls were steady. Feeder steers were mixed from $1 higher to $5 lower, most were $1 to $3 lower. Feeder heifers were $1 to $2 lower with the better at 350 to 400 pounds $6 lower. The supply included about 412 feeder calves, 100 feeder yearlings, 50 replacement cows, 74 slaughter cows, 12 slaughter bulls, and 1 replacement bull. The feeder supply included 48% steers, 39% heifers, and 13% bulls, with nearly 28% of the run over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., 40.00 to 44.00; high dressing, 44.00 to 46.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 950 to 1400 lbs., 39.00 to 44.00; high dressing, 44.00 to 47.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 900 to 1300 lbs., 36.00 to 41.00; high dressing, 42.00 to 46.00; low dressing, 25.00 to 35.00. Light, 85 to 92% lean, 700 to 950 lbs., 38.00 to 42.00. Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1000 to 2100 lbs., 50.00 to 56.00; high dressing, 56.00 to 59.00; low dressing, 50.00.
