Amarillo livestock auction reportThe Amarillo Livestock Auction, Amarillo, Texas, reported receipts of 1,060 head Oct. 13, compared to 1,423 head last week and 614 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were steady to $3 higher with most increase on calves under 600 pounds. Buyers showed more interest in unweaned calves this week. Slaughter cows were steady to $2 higher with most increase on breakers. Slaughter bulls were steady to firm. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 400- to 750-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows made up 20% of the offering, slaughter bulls 2%, replacement cows 3% and feeders 75%. The feeder supply included 41% steers and bulls and 59% heifers, with approximately 48% of the feeder run over 600 pounds. Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 325 to 400 lbs., 108.00 to 115.50; 475 to 500 lbs., 102.00 to 105.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 94.00 to 100.50; 600 to 700 lb. calves 85.00 to 88.00.
