St. Onge livestock sales report

The St. Onge Livestock Sales Co., Ltd., St Onge, S.D., reported receipts of 1,815 head Oct. 9, compared to 1,675 head last week and 1,602 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Compared to last week's sale, the best test on feeder steers was 500 to 550 weights that sold mostly $1 higher. There was no accurate comparison on other weight steers due to difference in numbers, but a lower undertone was noted. Best comparison on feeder heifers was 450 weights that sold mostly $1 to $2 higher, with too few numbers on other heifers for accurate comparison. Buyer attendance was good with moderate demand. The supply consisted of approximately 72% steers, 28% heifers, with 31% weighing over 600 pounds.
