Salina cattle sales reportThe Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., reported receipts of 1,246 head Oct. 9, compared to 2,060 head last week and 601 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan. Compared to last week, steers at 650 to 950 pounds were steady to $2 lower, and heifers at 650 to 800 pounds were $2 to $4 lower. Steers and heifers under 650 pounds were $3 to $8 lower, the bulk of the offerings were $3 to $6 lower. Receipts included 84% 600 pounds and over, 15% 193 pounds and under, 1% slaughter cows. Trade and demand were fair. The feeder supply included 78% steers and 22% heifers.
