Pratt livestock sales report

Pratt Livestock Sales Inc., Pratt, Kan., reported receipts of 848 head, Oct. 8, compared to 1,092 head, last week and 426 head, last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared with last week's limited test, steers at 750 to 850 pounds were steady in a limited test, 850 to 1,000 pounds were steady to $2 lower. Heifers at 650 to 800 pounds were steady to $2 lower, and 800 pounds and over were weak in a light test. Steers at 750 pounds and under and heifers at 650 pounds and under were not enough for a market test. Slaughter cows were steady to $2 higher. Slaughter bulls were firm to $1 higher. Trade and demand were moderate. The feeder supply included 74% steers and 26% heifers, with 92% over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 9 head, 389 lbs., 122.00; 5 head, 412 lbs., 121.00; 7 head, 467 lbs., 109.25; 700 to 750 lbs., 92.75 to 94.25 (93.26); 6 head, thin 715 lbs., 96.50; 750 to 800 lbs., 91.00 to 94.00 (93.25); 19 head, 810 lbs., thin 94.85; 850 to 900 lbs., 87.50 to 88.10 (87.96); 900 to 950 lbs., 87.10 to 88.10 (87.60); 950 to 1000 lbs., 85.25 to 86.50 (86.26). Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 350 to 400 lbs., 112.00 to 116.00 (114.46); 5 head, 508 lbs., 90.00; 33 head, 740 lbs., 89.00; 12 head, 786 lbs., 85.00; 800 to 850 lbs., 86.50 to 87.50 (86.97); 6 head, 876 lbs., 85.00; 950 to 1000 lbs., 82.50 to 84.00 (82.77). Calves, 6 head, 649 lbs., 88.00. Medium and large frame 1, 59 head, 960 lbs., 87.60.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 10 head, 346 lbs., 105.00; 19 head, 751 lbs., 85.75. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 700 to 750 lbs., 83.00 to 85.00 (83.99); 12 head, 784 lbs., 83.50; 21 head, 821 lbs., 82.00; 850 to 900 lbs., 79.10 to 79.25 (79.15). Large frame 1, 13 head, 920 lbs., 70.00.

Slaughter cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 49.00 to 51.00; low dressing, 42.00 to 44.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 37.50 to 40.50; high dressing, 43.75 to 45.50; low dressing, 34.00 to 35.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 54.00 to 55.50; low dressing, 52.50.
