Newell sheep sales reportSt. Onge Livestock Co., Ltd., Newell, S.D., reported receipts of 4,155 head Oct. 8, compared to 4,454 head last week and 4,033 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week's sale, there was no accurate comparison on feeder lambs due to a difference in numbers on offer, but a steady undertone was noted. Slaughter ewes sold mostly steady. Buyer attendance was good with moderate demand. The supply consisted of approximately 24% slaughter ewes and bucks, 77% feeders. Slaughter ewes: Good 2 to 3, fleshy, 357 head, 152 lbs., 29.25; 97 head, 163 lbs., 29.00 to 33.50 (32.94). Utility 1 to 2, Medium fleshed, 130 head, 152 lbs., 23.75. Cull and Utility 1 to 2, Medium thin, 222 head, 134 lbs., 21.00. Feeder lambs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 55 to 57 lbs., 115.50 to 116.00 (115.91); 61 head, 65 lbs., 112.50; 70 to 77 lbs., 106.50 to 109.75 (109.09); 84 to 89 lbs., 97.00 to 103.00 (99.38); 90 to 94 lbs., 93.50 to 98.00 (94.75); 100 to 106 lbs., 89.50 to 90.00 (89.60). Medium frame 1 to 2, 80 head, 41 lbs., 95.00; 28 head, 55 lbs., 101.50; 58 head, 67 lbs., 101.50; 36 head, 74 lbs., 100.50.
