Dalhart cattle sales reportThe Cattleman's Livestock Auction, Dalhart, Texas, reported receipts of 3,169 head Oct. 8, compared to 2,440 head last week and 1,749 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture Market News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were mixed. Load lots over 700 pounds and 300- to 400-pound calves were steady, all others were $3 to $5 lower with greatest decline on fleshy non-weaned calves. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady. Trade and demand were moderate. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 850-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows made up 8% of the offering, slaughter bulls 1%, and feeders 91%. The feeder supply included 72% steers and 28% heifers, with nearly 48% of the run over 600 pounds.
