Colorado cattle auction summaryThe Colorado Auction Feeder Cattle Summary, Greeley, Colo., reported receipts of 8,801 head Oct. 9, compared to 4,308 head last week and 6,410 head last year, according to the USDA-Colorado Department of Agriculture Market News, Greeley, Colo. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers at 600 to 700 pounds were $2 to $3 lower, and over 800 pounds was $4 to $5 lower. Steer calves under 600 pounds were steady to $1 lower, and 600- to 700-pound calves were $4 to $5 lower. Heifer calves were mostly steady. Feeder Holstein steers under 400 pounds were $9 to $10 lower, 400 to 800 pounds were $5 to $6 lower, and over 800 pounds were steady to $2 lower on a thin test. Cooler and wet weather conditions caused buyers to not be as aggressive this week. Demand was light to moderate. Trade activity was slow to moderate. The supply was made up of 48% feeder steers, and the balance was feeder heifers, including about 48% of total feeder supply over 600 pounds.
