Hog found on interstate in Iowa

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP)--Officials are waiting to hear about the future of a hog found in a construction zone on Interstate 80 near Iowa City.

Misha Goodman of the Iowa City Animal Care and Adoption Center says the boar, which weighs around 700 pounds, apparently fell off a truck recently.

She says the hog, which was tracked through a tag, was sold to the Sara Lee Buying Station in Delhi. Goodman says a representative from the station didn't know the hog was gone.

Police Sgt. Troy Kelsay says officers and workers used construction equipment to corral the hog, which was sedated by a veterinarian.

The hog was taken to a farm near Solon. Goodman says she's waiting on a call from someone at Sara Lee to see what it wants done with the animal.
