Tarleton dean receives award

Texas

Tarleton State University recently hosted the Texas Association of Agriculture Professionals awards banquet. Dr. Don Cawthon, dean of the College of Agriculture and Human Sciences, received the government and extension service award for his work as the director of The Texas A University System Agricultural Research and Extension Center located just outside of Stephenville.

Cawthon has a bachelor's degree in horticulture, a master's in horticultural food science and a doctorate in food science from the University of Arkansas. He held various horticultural teaching, research, industry and administrative positions before becoming dean.

Dr. David Drueckhammer, head of the agricultural services and development department, is the 2009 TAAP president and was also recognized for his service. TAAP is a professional organization for people who are interested in the development of agricultural interests and informing the public in matters concerning the development of Texas agriculture.
