Beef Quality Day scheduled in OklahomaOklahoma Oklahoma State University and the Oklahoma Beef Council will be conducting Beef Quality Assurance Certification Workshops at three locations in Oklahoma in October. Randy Pirtle will be hosting one of the programs at the Washington County Fairgrounds in Dewey, Oklahoma on Oct. 15. The other two will be held in Kingfisher, Okla., on Oct. 14 and Ardmore, Okla., on Oct. 13. Topics to be covered at these workshops include Beef Quality Certification for participants through the Oklahoma Beef Quality Certification Program, BVD Testing of Cattle by Cattle Stats and Idexx laboratories, OQBN Sale Network, and Ft. Dodge Laboratory will be providing live animal vaccination site demonstrations. With increased consumer concerns with food safety and animal care "Beef Quality Assurance" provides a proactive way for producers to show consumers that they are committed to food safety, quality, and animal care. The Oklahoma Beef Quality Assurance certification program meets national Beef Quality Certification standards, and was developed and is maintained with input from cattle producers. The program at Dewey on Oct. 15 will begin at 8:30 a.m., and conclude at 3 p.m. A meal is being sponsored by the Oklahoma Beef Council for participants but you do need to call in your registrations and/or RSVP by Oct. 12 at 918-534-2216. For more information on this program you can contact the Oklahoma Beef Council at 405-840-3777 or the OSU Extension service at 918-534-2216.
