Cleveland County 4-H'er receives Record Book Achievement Award at State 4-H RoundupOklahoma A Cleveland County 4-H'er took top honors when she was named the Achievement state record book winner during the 88th State 4-H Roundup July 30 at Oklahoma State University. Emily Morrow of Norman received a $1,000 scholarship sponsored by the Harold and Edith Shaw Memorial as part of the award. Morrow is a member of the Heart 4-H Club where she was also involved in the fabrics and fashion project area. In the past three years, Morrow has created 63 clothing garments and accessories. She has sewn tote bags for a children's shelter, made Christmas stockings for a nursing home, and taught a sewing workshop. She also has taught 23 people to knit or sew. Morrow also teaches Health Rocks! to area teens. The Health Rocks! program teaches teens and adults to work together to encourage kids to say no to tobacco, drugs and alcohol. "Teaching Health Rocks! has been the highlight of my 4-H career," Morrow said. "It showed me that I definitely want to be a teacher and I want work with fourth or fifth graders." Some of Morrow's 4-H activities and honors include attending Health Rocks! national training, receiving the Cleveland County Outstanding Senior Achievement Award, and being named the Outstanding Cleveland County Fair Exhibitor. The daughter of Wayne and Sharon Morrow, she is also involved with the AWANA club at her church. Oklahoma 4-H Roundup provides an opportunity for 4-H members throughout the state to gather and learn new skills, create memories and develop friendships while attending workshops and participating in contests. 4-H is a community of young people from across America that learns leadership, citizenship and life skills. Oklahoma 4-H is part of the Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service.
