Dodge City cattle sales reportDodge City Winter Livestock, Inc., reported receipts of 2,516 head, Oct. 8, compared to 3,404 head, last week and 2,260 head, last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan. Compared with last week, steers at 300 to 550 pounds were steady, 550 to 750 pounds were steady to $3 lower on light offering, and 750 to 900 pounds were $2 to $4 lower. Heifers at 350 to 500 pounds were steady, and 500 to 800 pounds were $1 to $3 lower. Slaughter cows were $1 to $2 lower. Slaughter bulls were weak to $1 lower. Trade and demand were moderate. Receipts included 68% over 600 pounds, 26% under 600 pounds and 6% slaughter cows and bulls with 141 early. The feeder supply consisted of 55% steers and 45% heifers.
