North Arkansas livestock sales reportThe North Arkansas Livestock, Green Forest, Ark., reported receipts of 1,335 head Oct. 7, compared to 1,733 head last week and 785 head last year, according to the Arkansas Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Little Rock, Ark. Compared to last week, Slaughter cows and bulls were $1 to $2 lower. Feeder steers were $2 to $6 lower except the better 400 to 450 pounds were $5 higher. Feeder heifers were mixed with the better kind under 500 pounds were steady to $2 higher, over 500 pounds and plainer kind under 500 pounds were $2 to $6 lower. The supply included about 817 feeder calves, 250 feeder yearlings, 65 replacement cows, 187 slaughter cows, and 16 slaughter bulls. The feeder supply included 31% steers, 50% heifers, and 19% bulls, with nearly 26% of the run over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., 41.00 to 43.00; high dressing, 44.00 to 47.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 950 to 1400 lbs., 39.00 to 43.50; high dressing, 44.00 to 48.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 900 to 1300 lbs., 36.00 to 42.00; high dressing, 42.00 to 46.00; low dressing, 28.75 to 36.00. Light, 85 to 92% lean, 700 to 950 lbs., 28.00 to 35.00; high dressing, 35.00 to 39.00; low dressing, 15.00 to 25.00. Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1000 to 2100 lbs., 50.50 to 55.00; high dressing, 56.00 to 57.50; low dressing, 48.00.
