Amarillo livestock sales reportThe Amarillo Livestock Auction, Amarillo, Texas, reported receipts of 1,423 head Oct. 6, compared to 1,375 head last week and 336 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were $3 to $7 lower with most decline on unweaned calves. Slaughter cows and bulls were $2 to $4 lower. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 400- to 750-pound feeder steers and heifers. Trade and demand was moderate on a light test. Slaughter cows made up 30% of the offering, slaughter bulls 2%, replacement cows 3% and feeders 65%. The feeder supply included 34% steers and bulls and 66% heifers, with 40% of the feeder run over 600 pounds. Steers: Medium and large frame 1, package 376 lbs., 116.00; few 400 to 425 lbs., 94.00 to 98.00, 440 to 450 lbs., fleshy 89.00 to 90.50; 525 to 550 lbs., 94.00 to 96.00, 500 to 525 lbs., fleshy 89.50 to 90.50; pen 627 lbs., 88.25, 600 to 700 lb. calves 78.25 to 86.50. Small and medium frame 3 to 4, young to middle-aged, 700 to 800 lbs., with 100-lb. calves, 500.00 to 575.00 per pair.
