Aberdeen cattle sales report

The Hub City Livestock Auction, Aberdeen, S.D., reported receipts of 1,318 head Oct. 7, compared to 4,216 head last week and 4,144 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were $1 to $3 lower. Moderate demand with several load lots offered. Receipts were 68% steers, 32% heifers, with 99% over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 8 head, 540 lbs., 105.25; 16 head, 655 lbs., 97.50; 75 head, 735 lbs., 96.75; 47 head, 754 lbs., 96.50; 7 head, 836 lbs., 95.00; 863 to 892 lbs., 92.80 to 95.00 (93.23); 865 to 880 lbs., 93.75 full; 900 to 938 lbs., 90.30 to 92.80 (92.33); 57 head, 950 lbs., 90.25; 14 head, 1030 lbs., 84.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 11 head, 651 lbs., 88.00.

Feeder Holstein steers: Large frame 3, 16 head, 851 lbs., 56.50.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 636 to 645 lbs., 89.25 to 92.00 (89.83); 730 to 739 lbs., 91.50 to 92.00 (91.88); 781 to 798 lbs., 85.75 to 89.00 (87.10); 14 head, 867 lbs., 86.25; 908 to 909 lbs., 84.50 to 85.75 (85.07); 986 to 992 lbs., 82.75 to 84.25 (83.40); 7 head, 1085 lbs., 77.75.
