Faith livestock auction reportThe Faith Livestock Commission Co., Faith, S.D., reported receipts of 2,175 head Oct. 5, compared to 1,537 head last week and 2,999 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were too lightly tested to trend. Steer and heifer calves had no recent comparison as this was the first large offering of calves of the fall, however, a lower undertone was noted on all feeder classes. Slaughter cows sold mostly steady on increased offerings. Slaughter bulls were too lightly tested to trend. Demand was moderate to good for all classes. The supply consisted of approximately 77% feeder cattle, and the balance was slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder cattle supply consisted of 58% steers, 42% heifers, with 8% weighing over 600 pounds. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 4 head, 311 lbs., 124.00; 375 to 395 lbs., 119.00 to 121.00 (119.77); 424 to 447 lbs., 109.75 to 117.00 (111.26); 454 to 499 lbs., 103.75 to 109.75 (104.90); 507 to 539 lbs., 103.00 to 106.75 (103.62); 555 to 574 lbs., 100.50 to 103.75 (102.07); 59 head, 568 lbs., 110.75 fancy; 60 head, 600 lbs., 100.50 calves; 853 lbs., 93.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 18 head, 674 lbs., 93.25; 784 to 789 lbs., 91.00. Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 363 to 370 lbs., 106.00 to 107.00 (106.24); 402 to 436 lbs., 100.00 to 105.00 (101.53); 454 to 476 lbs., 96.00 to 104.00 (97.61); 505 to 527 lbs., 92.00 to 100.00 (93.66); 76 head, 541 lbs., 104.00 replacement; 18 head, 632 lbs., 89.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 29 head, 525 lbs., 90.25; 14 head, 550 lbs., 90.25. Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1360 to 1626 lbs., 45.50 to 47.00; high dressing, 47.75 to 48.50; low dressing, 40.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1050 to 1530 lbs., 43.75 to 46.50; high dressing, 47.00 to 47.50; low dressing, 41.50 to 43.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1075 to 1330 lbs., 41.50 to 44.50; low dressing, 37.75 to 41.00. Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1735 to 2015 lbs., 53.00; low dressing, 48.25 to 49.50. Feeding cows and cows returning to the country: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young, 1045 to 1430 lbs., 48.25 to 51.50; middle aged, 1235 to 1350 lbs., 44.25 to 47.25, thin 41.25.
