St. Onge livestock auction reportThe St. Onge Livestock Sales Co., Ltd., St. Onge, S.D., reported receipts of 1,675 head Oct. 2, compared to 4,290 head last week, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week's larger sale, there was no accurate comparison on feeder cattle due to difference in numbers on offer, but a weaker undertone was noted. Slaughter cattle sold steady to $2 lower. Buyer attendance was moderate with moderate demand. The supply consisted of approximately 30% slaughter cattle, 70% feeders. The feeder supply included 38% steers, 62% heifers, with 51% weighing over 600 pounds. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 16 head, 349 lbs., 115.50; 422 to 427 lbs., 113.00 to 115.50 (114.56); 459 to 485 lbs., 106.00 to 108.50 (107.96); 502 to 544 lbs., 101.00 to 104.50 (103.61); 561 to 575 lbs., 102.00 to 105.00 (104.14); 629 to 635 lbs., 96.00 to 100.00 (99.22) calves; 7 head, 696 lbs., 93.00 calves; 9 head, 1156 lbs., 75.75.
