Salina cattle auction reportThe Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., reported receipts of 2,060 head Oct. 1, compared to 2,503 head last week and 1,352 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan. Compared to last week, steers at 400 to 650 pounds were $2 to $3 lower, 650 to 800 pounds were $4 to $7 lower, 800 to 1,000 pounds were $2 to $3 lower. Heifers 300 to 650 pounds were steady 650 to 750 pounds were $4 to $7 lower, 750 to 950 pounds were steady to $1 lower. Receipts included 75% 600 pounds and over, 24% 514 pounds and under, 1% slaughter cows. Trade and demand were fair. The feeder supply included 56% steers and 44% heifers.
