Georgia cattle auction summaryThe summary of livestock auctions, Oct. 2, totaled 10,450 head, compared to 11,031 head last week and 12,611 head last year, according to the USDA-Georgia Department of Agriculture Market News, Thomasville, Ga. Compared to one week ago, slaughter cows and bulls were mostly $1 lower, feeder steers and steer calves were mostly steady to $2 lower, heifers and heifer calves were $1 to $2 lower, replacement cows were $1 to $2 higher. The offering included 10% steers over 600 pounds, 35% steers under 600 pounds, 7% heifers over 600 pounds, 25% heifers under 600 pounds, 8% feeder cows, 13% slaughter cows, and 2% bulls.
