Dalhart livestock auction report

The Cattleman's Livestock Commission Co., Dalhart, Texas, reported receipts of 2,440 head Oct. 1, compared to 2,401 head last week and 1,231 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture Market News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were mostly $3 lower, except for a few reputation kind that sold steady to weak. Slaughter cows and bulls were $5 lower. Trade and demand were moderate. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 250- to 850-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows made up 18% of the offering, slaughter bulls 1%, and feeders 81%. The feeder supply included 50% steers and 50% heifers, with nearly 45% of the run over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 200 to 300 lbs., 126.00 to 130.00, package 245 lbs., 135.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 117.00 to 121.00, pre-conditioned 123.00 to 126.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 106.50 to 109.00, two packages 405 to 418 lbs., 114.00 to 115.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 96.00 to 103.00; lot 674 lbs., 97.00, 600 to 700 lb. calves 89.50 to 95.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 90.00 to 94.00, calves 80.50 to 89.00; lot 827 lbs., 88.50; lot 1003 lbs., 82.75. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, lot 246 lbs., 130.00; package 356 lbs., 105.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 94.00 to 100.00, package 466 lbs., 105.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 88.00 to 96.00, package 526 lbs., thin 99.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 92.00 to 94.50, calves 88.00 to 88.50; package 795 lbs., 89.00, 700 to 800 lbs., calves 84.50 to 85.50; 800 to 900 lbs., 87.25 to 90.00; lot 981 lbs., 85.00. Medium and large frame 2, 400 to 500 lbs., 85.00 to 92.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 80.00 to 85.00. Small and medium frame 1, lot 396 lbs., 106.00; lot 455 lbs., 100.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 87.75 to 93.00.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 200 to 300 lbs., 112.00 to 113.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 94.00 to 97.00, lot 352 lbs., pre-conditioned 104.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 90.00 to 97.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 86.50 to 91.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 90.00 to 90.25, calves 80.50 to 87.75; 700 to 800 lbs., 83.00 to 84.50, package 711 lb. calves 82.50; 800 to 900 lbs., 82.00 to 83.75, package 813 lb. calves 80.50; 900 to 950 lbs., 82.00 to 84.00. Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1100 to 1400 lbs., 47.75 to 49.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1100 to 1300 lbs., 46.00 to 48.75. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 41.00 to 45.00; low dressing, 35.50; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 39.00 to 46.50; low dressing, 32.00 to 37.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1700 to 1900 lbs., 56.50 to 61.00; low dressing, 1400 to 1700 lbs., 50.50 to 52.50.
