Dalhart livestock auction reportThe Cattleman's Livestock Commission Co., Dalhart, Texas, reported receipts of 2,440 head Oct. 1, compared to 2,401 head last week and 1,231 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture Market News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were mostly $3 lower, except for a few reputation kind that sold steady to weak. Slaughter cows and bulls were $5 lower. Trade and demand were moderate. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 250- to 850-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows made up 18% of the offering, slaughter bulls 1%, and feeders 81%. The feeder supply included 50% steers and 50% heifers, with nearly 45% of the run over 600 pounds.
