Grains see sharp gains

Grains had sharp gains as buying entered the market on Nov. 2, according to the National Grain Market Summary.

Outside markets were higher with crude oil and precious metals. Widespread harvest maybe delayed in some cases as fields are very muddy delaying harvest progress.

The Nov. 2 crop progress report is expected to show 25 percent corn harvested well below the average pace. Wheat closed mostly 18 to 28 cents higher. Corn traded 13 to 17 cents higher. Soybeans closed mostly 16 to 24 cents higher.

In the futures close, Kansas City December wheat was $5.20, up 21 cents.

Terminal wheat bids, paid for truck delivery, included Kansas City, $4.55 to $4.60, up 21 cents; Minneapolis, $5.56, up 18 1/4 cents; Portland, $4.75 to $4.85, up 5 cents; St. Louis, $3.42, up 28 cents.

Terminal corn bids, U.S. No. 2 yellow, price paid for truck deliver, included: Kansas City, $3.59 to $3.64, up 16 cents; Minneapolis, $3.49 1/4, up 17 1/4 cents; southern Iowa, $3.56 1/4 to $3.58 3/4, up 16 1/4 to 13 3/4 cents; Omaha, $3.58 to $3.66, up 16 to 13 cents.

Terminal soybean bids, U.S. No. 1, price paid for truck delivery, included: Kansas City, $9.83, up 5 cents; Minneapolis, $9.83, up 19 cents; southern Iowa, $9.87 to $9.93, up 17 to 16 1/2 cents; central Illinois processors, $10.02 to $10.15, up 24 21 cents.

Kansas City wheat prices Nov. 3, spot, fob track, included: No. 1 hard red winter wheat, ordinary protein, $4.95 to $5.58, down 2 cents to unchanged; 12% protein, $5.50 to $5.65, unchanged; 13% protein, $5.54 to $5.78, unchanged; 14% protein, $5.67 to $5.82, unchanged. U.S. No. 2 soft red winter wheat was $4.75 to $5.25, unchanged. U.S. No. 2 white corn was $3.78 to $3.88, unchanged.
