Minnesota

Fifty-five percent of the state's topsoil was rated surplus for moisture after another cool, wet week, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service, Minnesota Field Office, Nov. 2.

Precipitation amounts ranged from under a half-inch in Winona to over 2 inches in International Falls. Soybeans were 56 percent harvested compared to 96 percent last year and the five-year average of 97 percent.

Good grain moisture of soybeans being harvested was 16 percent. Corn harvest advanced 6 percentage-points to 12 percent harvested, 39 points behind last year and 57 points behind average. Average moisture of corn being harvested was 28 percent.

Sugarbeets were 81 percent harvested, 12 points behind last year's pace and 17 points behind average. Dry bean harvest advanced 1 point to 89 percent harvested, while sunflowers were up 3 points to 23 percent harvested.

Crop condition ratings were relatively unchanged last week. Soybeans rated good to excellent fell 2 points to 61 percent while corn was up 1 point at 71 percent good to excellent. Sunflowers were rated 51 percent good to excellent down from 54 percent a week ago.
