2010 Kirk Hanna Cattlemen's Leadership College starts in January

Colorado

The Colorado Cattlemen's Association would like to invite you to participate in the 2010 Kirk Hanna Cattlemen's Leadership College. The goal of KHCLC is to provide educational tools and information that can help individuals become active leaders in Colorado's cattle industry through their local affiliates and through CCA.

Over a six-month period, a six-day training will take place and will involve meeting with industry front-line organizations such as the National Cattlemen's Beef Association, Colorado Beef Council, Colorado Cattlemen's Agricultural Land Trust, and participation in a CCA Board of Directors meeting. Part of the leadership college will involve visiting the state's Capitol where participants will tour, observe session proceedings, committee meetings, and receive a legislative briefing. The Capitol tour will also involve a Legislative Lunch where participants will meet and have lunch with their legislators and listen to a legislative review.

The 2010 KHCLC will kick off in January. The dates for the 2010 KHCLC are as follows:

--Jan. 19 and 20: Attend a CCA board meeting and exposure to legislative proceedings at the State Capitol

--April 21: Learn about industry issues from speakers from various industry organizations.

--June 14 to 16: Participate in CCA's Annual Convention in Pueblo.

The cost of attending KHCLC is $200/person. However, participants will be receiving approximately $800 each in value as meals, hotels, convention registration fees, and educational material will be provided for them. Local CCA affiliates have been strong supporters of KHCLC, so we encourage participants to look to their local affiliates to sponsor some of the cost for those who wish to attend.

If you would like to participate, please fill out the form at www.coloradocattle.org/kirkhannacattlemensleadershipcollege.aspx and return to the CCA office by Dec. 18. For more information please contact Beka Gill at 303-431-6422 or beka@coloradocattle.org.
