New Census of Agriculture tabulation by unicameral district now available

Nebraska

The United States Department of Agriculture National Agricultural Statistics Service, Nebraska Field Office recently released the Nebraska Unicameral District Agricultural Statistics online profiles. The profiles outline agricultural output by Nebraska Unicameral District using information from the most recent Census of Agriculture.

These data provide a clear picture of the diversity and value of production agriculture in each district. The market value of Nebraska agricultural products sold in 2007 was $15.5 billion. Moreover, production agriculture is the cornerstone for Nebraska's thriving agribusiness sector, from food processing to input sales, trucking, insurance and more. Each of Nebraska's unicameral districts is affected by the health of production agriculture as the sector is fundamental for many of the state's industries and jobs.

"We are pleased to offer agriculture-related data by unicameral district. The information published includes value of production, number and sizes of farms and types of commodities produced," stated Joe Parsons, director of the NASS Nebraska Field Office. These data are available because of the cooperation of Nebraska's farmers and ranchers who participate in detailed surveys from which this information is generated.
