North Arkansas livestock market report

The North Arkansas Livestock, Green Forest, Ark., reported receipts of 1,972 head Nov. 4, compared to 935 head last week and 1,204 head last year, according to the Arkansas Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Little Rock, Ark.

Compared to last week, slaughter cows were steady. Slaughter bulls were steady to weak. Feeder steers and bulls uneven, generally steady to $2 higher. Feeder heifers were steady to $4 higher with full advance on weights under 450 pounds. The supply included about 1284 feeder calves, 425 feeder yearlings, 65 replacement cows, 163 slaughter cows, and 24 slaughter bulls The feeder supply included 49% steers, 38% heifers, and 13% bulls, with nearly 29% of the run over 600 pounds. Prices follow with weighted average price in parenthesis.

Slaughter cows: Breakers 75 to 80% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., 40.00 to 42.00; high dressing, 42.75 to 46.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 950 to 1400 lbs., 38.00 to 43.00; high dressing, 43.50 to 46.25. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 900 to 1300 lbs., 35.00 to 41.00; high dressing, 42.00 to 45.00; low dressing, 28.00 to 34.00. Light, 85 to 92% lean, 700 to 950 lbs., 30.00 to 35.00; low dressing, 22.00 to 28.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1000 to 2100 lbs., 51.50 to 56.00; high dressing, 57.00 to 58.00; low dressing, 45.00 to 49.75.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 2 to 7 years old, 900 to 1200 lbs., with 100- to 200-lb. calves 710.00 per pair; 200- to 400-lb. calves 810.00 to 1000.00 per pair; 7 to 10 years old, with 100- to 300-lb. calves 560.00 to 760.00 per pair; 10+ years old, with 100- to 300-lb. calves 500.00 to 675.00 per pair.
