Watertown cattle sales report

The South Dakota Livestock Sales, Watertown, S.D., reported receipts of 1,000 head Nov. 4, compared to 650 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were steady to $2 higher. Feeder steers made up 80% of the sale. Feeder heifers made up 20%, with 88% over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 29 head, 560 lbs., 103.00; 66 head, 628 lbs., 103.50; 34 head, 847 lbs., 100.10; 61 head, 870 lbs., 97.30; 34 head, 902 lbs., 94.50; 950 to 996 lbs., 87.00 to 94.35 (92.22); 63 head, 1013 lbs., 89.70; 57 head, 1078 lbs., 85.30; 1056 to 1085 lbs., 83.50 to 83.70 (83.56) fleshy; 53 head, 1113 lbs., 84.00; 11 head, 1158 lbs., 83.70; 43 head, 1227 lbs., 82.80. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 571 to 575 lbs., 93.50 to 97.50 (95.66); 8 head, 728 lbs., 96.50; 8 head, 784 lbs., 81.00; 7 head, 819 lbs., 88.00; 17 head, 1034 lbs., 83.75; 1078 to 1099 lbs., 78.30 to 78.50 (78.39); 20 head, 1231 lbs., 73.00 fleshy.

Feeder Holstein steers: Large frame 3, 13 head, 932 lbs., 60.50; 7 head, 1076 lbs., 65.00; 10 head, 1116 lbs., 61.25.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 55 head, 540 lbs., 91.75; 9 head, 610 lbs., 88.00; 26 head, 717 lbs., 91.00; 5 head, 857 lbs., 86.50; 10 head, 910 lbs., 84.85; 20 head, 1040 lbs., 83.10; 7 head, 1100 lbs., 81.75. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 12 head, 672 to 687 lbs., 80.25 to 83.50 (81.62); 10 head, 1382 lbs., 68.50 fleshy. Medium and large frame 2, 5 head, 669 lbs., 74.00. Large frame 3, 9 head, 693 lbs., 46.00; 12 head, 710 lbs., 44.50.
