Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers over 600 pounds were steady to firm on comparable sales, under 600 pounds were mostly steady to $2 lower. Trade was active with good demand. Quality ranging from plain to attractive with several consignments of attractive calves on offer. Slaughter cows and bulls were $1 to $4 lower with the least decline on Holstein cows. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 400- to 750-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows made up 26% of the offering, slaughter bulls 1%, replacement cows 5% and feeders 68%. The feeder supply included 49% steers and bulls and 51% heifers, with approximately 46% of the feeder run over 600 pounds.
