McAlester livestock auction report

The McAlester Union Livestock Market, McAlester, Okla., reported receipts of 3,045 head Nov. 3, compared to 1,465 head last week and 1,915 head last year, according to the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, stocker cattle were steady to $3 higher as wheat grazing nears. Feeder cattle were firm on limited numbers. Good attendance of buyers showed very good demand for all classes. Cattle were in thin to fleshy condition. Receipts included 41% heifers with 17% over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows were $2 lower with culling season well under way. Slaughter bulls were steady. There was a good attendance of buyers and active trade for slaughter cattle. A total of 435 cows and bulls sold 65% going to packers.
