High Plains slaughter news

High Plains weighted average direct slaughter cattle sales for the week ending Nov. 1, totaled 164,431 head, compared to 161,410 head last week and 164,691 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, St. Joseph, Mo.

The report was based on sales in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 2,712 head, 1,300 to 1,485 lbs., 81.00 to 87.00 (84.10); 65 to 80% Choice, 8,466 head, 1,300 to 1,475 lbs., 82.00 to 88.00 (86.06); 35 to 65% Choice, 34,902 head, 1,100 to 1,485 lbs., 83.50 to 88.00 (87.31); 0 to 35% Choice, 1,624 head, 1,165 to 1,370 lbs., 86.00 to 88.00 (87.37). Dressed delivered basis, over 80% Choice, 3,686 head, 815 to 950 lbs., 131.00 to 138.00 (134.08); 65 to 80% Choice, 11,622 head, 812 to 950 lbs., 129.00 to 138.00 (133.79); 35 to 65% Choice, 7,120 head, 734 to 950 lbs., 130.00 to 139.00 (133.79); 0 to 35% Choice, 158 head, 819 to 854 lbs., 133.00 to 139.00 (135.85). Live delivered basis, over 80% Choice, 35 head, 1,425 lbs., 83.50; 35 to 65% Choice, 161 head, 1,300 to 1,400 lbs., 82.00 to 87.00 (85.82). Heifers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 3,739 head, 1,175 to 1,425 lbs., 82.00 to 87.00 (84.23); 65 to 80% Choice, 10,025 head, 1,165 to 1,440 lbs., 82.50 to 88.00 (86.45); 35 to 65% Choice, 32,015 head, 1,035 to 1,350 lbs., 84.00 to 88.00 (87.22); 0 to 35% Choice, 687 head, 1,140 to 1,245 lbs., 85.50 to 88.00 (87.73).
