Dalhart livestock sales report

The Cattleman's Livestock Auction, Dalhart, Texas, reported receipts of 2,424 head Oct. 29, compared to 2,035 head last week and 2,358 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture Market News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers under 600 pounds were steady, over 600 pounds were steady to $1 lower. Feeder heifers at 300 to 400 pounds were $2 to $4 higher, over 600 pounds were steady. Slaughter cows and bulls were weak to $1 lower. Trade and demand was moderate. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 800-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows made up 24% of the offering, slaughter bulls 1%, replacement cows 1%, and feeders 74%. The feeder supply included 50% steers and 50% heifers, with nearly 44% of the run over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1: 200 to 300 lbs., 125.00 to 128.00; 300 to 400 lbs., pre-conditioned 136.00 to 139.00, two packages 366 to 396 lbs., 113.00 to 120.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 108.00 to 114.00, pre-conditioned 119.00 to 120.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 101.00 to 106.00, 550 to 600 lbs., 93.50 to 98.00; few 600 to 700 lbs., 93.50 to 94.50, calves 89.00 to 90.50, package 660 lbs., pre-conditioned 92.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 90.00 to 92.25, calves 84.50 to 87.00, pre-conditioned 89.50 to 92.25; lot 904 lbs., 84.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 200 to 300 lbs., 115.00 to 118.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 109.00 to 112.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 104.00 to 108.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 87.50 to 92.00, package 522 lbs., thin 95.50; 600 to 700 lb. calves 85.00 to 86.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 83.50 to 85.50. Medium and large frame 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 100.00 to 103.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 93.00 to 97.50; two packages 575 to 584 lbs., 85.50.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 200 to 300 lbs., 110.00 to 115.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 106.00 to 113.00, package 381 lbs., pre-conditioned 119.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 91.00 to 95.25, pre-conditioned 97.00 to 101.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 88.50 to 88.75, pre-conditioned 93.00 to 95.00; lot 602 lbs., 88.00, 600 to 700 lb. calves 81.00 to 86.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 84.75 to 88.00, package 711 lb. calves 80.00, package 720 lbs., pre-conditioned 87.00; lot 905 lbs., 81.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 101.00 to 104.50, package 387 lbs., thin 110.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 84.00 to 88.00; 500 to 700 lbs., 83.00 to 85.50; lot 950 lbs., 76.00. Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1200 to 1500 lbs., 42.50 to 49.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1100 to 1400 lbs., 42.00 to 47.75. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 41.50 to 48.00; low dressing, 37.50 to 39.75; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 40.50 to 47.00; low dressing, 32.50 to 39.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1400 to 2200 lbs., 52.25 to 56.50.
