AdvertisementColorado feeder cattle reportThe Colorado Auction Feeder Cattle Summary, Greeley, Colo., reported receipts of 8,145 head Oct. 30, compared to 12,800 head last week and 13,512 head last year, according to the USDA-Colorado Department of Agriculture Market News, Greeley, Colo. Compared to last week, steer and heifer calves under 600 pounds were $1 to $1.50 lower, calves over 600 pounds were $1.50 to $2.50 lower. Feeder steers and heifer calves at 600 to 700 pounds were mostly steady. Feeder steers at 600 to 700 pounds were unevenly steady, and 700 pounds and over were $2 to $4 higher. Feeder heifers over 700 pounds were generally steady on light volume. Demand was moderate. Market activity was light to moderate. Movement was hampered due to a snow storm, resulting in lighter than excepted receipts, except in the two La Junta auctions. In addition, demand for light weight and short weaned calves were light, with yearling demand being good. The supply was made up of 64% feeder steers, and the balance feeder heifers, including about 43% of the total feeder supply was over 600 pounds.
