AdvertisementCorn harvest behind scheduleWyoming Topsoil moisture holding up, despite dry weather during the week ending Nov. 22, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service, Wyoming Field Office, Nov. 23. All sugar beets will not get harvested in some areas due to an early freeze. Corn harvest was still behind. High temperatures ranged from low 40s to high 60s. Low temperatures ranged from 7 degrees below to 15 degrees above. Topsoil moisture was at 89 percent adequate or better, up 19 points from last year and up 38 points from the average. Subsoil moisture was at 70 percent adequate or better, up 10 points from last year and up 35 points from the average. There were 6.1 days suitable for field work last week. Forty-five percent of all corn was harvested; up 13 points from last year but 23 points below the average. Harvested sugar beets were reported at 78 percent, 21 points below 2008 and the average. Winter wheat and corn conditions did not change from last week and were reported at 92 and 76 percent good or better, respectively. Range and pasture conditions were at 48 percent good or better, up 1 point from the previous week. Stock water supplies were at 88 percent adequate or better, up 3 points from 2008 and 26 points above the average. Advertisement
