North Arkansas livestock sales

The North Arkansas Livestock, Green Forest, Ark., Little Rock, Ark., reported receipts of 885 head Nov. 18, compared to 2,571 head last week and 2,057 head last year, according to the Arkansas Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Little Rock, Ark.

Compared to last week, slaughter cows and bulls were steady to $1 higher. Feeder steers mixed, under 400 pounds were steady to $6 lower on a light test, and those over 400 pounds were $3 higher to $2 lower, generally steady to $2 higher. Feeder heifers under 400 pounds were steady to $3 lower, 400 to 600 pounds were mostly steady to $2 higher, and 600 to 700 pounds were $1 lower. The supply included about 600 feeder calves, 158 feeder yearlings, 25 replacement cows, 94 slaughter cows, and 8 slaughter bulls. The feeder supply included 29% steers, 52% heifers, and 19% bulls, with nearly 19% of the run weighed over 600 pounds. Prices follow with weighted average price in parenthesis.

Slaughter cows: Breakers 75 to 80% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., 37.00 to 38.75; high dressing, 40.00 to 46.25. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 950 to 1400 lbs., 35.00 to 40.00; high dressing, 41.00 to 45.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 900 to 1300 lbs., 32.00 to 38.00; high dressing, 40.00 to 43.75; low dressing, 24.00 to 32.00. Light, 85 to 92% lean, 700 to 950 lbs., 30.00 to 32.00; low dressing, 15.00 to 24.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1000 to 2100 lbs., 45.00 to 51.00; low dressing, 52.50.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 318 lbs., 105.00 to 112.00 (107.90); 410 to 418 lbs., 103.50 to 109.50 (108.02); 450 to 492 lbs., 95.00 to 104.50 (100.45); 505 to 534 lbs., 90.00 to 104.00 (99.80); 555 to 596 lbs., 88.00 to 97.00 (93.77); 663 to 690 lbs., 87.00 to 88.00 (87.26); 740 lbs., 92.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 649 lbs., 88.00; 768 lbs., 90.00. Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 2 to 7 years old, 900 to 1200 lbs., third stage, 700.00 to 780.00 per head; second stage, 590.00 to 650.00 per head; first stage or open, 41.00 to 51.00; 7 to 10 years old, second and third stage, 500.00 to 545.00 per head; 700 to 900 lbs., second and third stage, 360.00 to 450.00 per head.
