OKC West livestock market report

The OKC West Livestock Market Inc., El Reno, Okla., reported receipts of 5,519 head Nov. 18, compared to 9,014 head last week and 6,652 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were steady on a light test. Demand was moderate to good for feeder cattle. Steer and heifer calves were $2 to $4 higher. Demand was good for calves. Quality was plain to attractive. The supply consisted of 54% over 600 pounds, 44% heifers. Slaughter cows were $4 to $6 higher. Slaughter bulls were $3 to $4 higher. Packer demand was moderate to good. A total of 460 cows and bulls sold with 90% going to packers.

Lean, 55 head, 85 to 90% lean, 995 to 1325 lbs., 36.00 to 40.00; high dressing, 41.00 to 45.50; low dressing, 33.50 to 38.00. Lights, 18 head, 85 to 90% lean, 825 to 1010 lbs., 26.00 to 30.00; high dressing, 30.00 to 33.00; low dressing, 22.00 to 26.50; very low 20.00 to 23.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 8 head, 1490 to 1950 lbs., 51.50 to 52.50; high dressing, 54.00 to 57.50; low dressing, 45.00 to 49.00.

Replacement cows: 2 to 4 years old, 900 to 1100 lbs., 3 to 8 months bred, average quality, 500.00 to 590.00; 4 years old, 1100 lbs., 7 months bred, average blacks, 850.00; 5 years old, 1100 lbs., 8 months bred, average blacks, 500.00; 6 years old, 1350 lbs., 8 months bred, high blacks, 850.00; 7 to 8 years old, 1200 to 1300 lbs., 4 to 5 months bred, average quality, 480.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 2 years old, 1000 lbs., with 80-lb. calves, average blacks, 800.00; 5 years old, 1100 to 1300 lbs., with 100- to 125-lb. calves, average quality, 785.00 to 850.00; 5 years old, 1200 lbs., with 100-lb. calves, average blacks, 900.00.
