McAlester livestock sales report

The McAlester Union Livestock Market, McAlester, Okla., reported receipts of 2,930 head Nov. 17, compared to 3,835 head last week and 3,815 head last year, according to the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, stocker and feeder steers were steady to $2 higher. Stocker and feeder heifers were steady. There was a good attendance of buyers and active on trade. Many more attractive cattle were included in the supply. Receipts included 43% heifers, with 23% over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady with last week. There was a good attendance of buyers and active trade. A total of 300 cows and bulls sold with 60% going to packers.

Boners, 43 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1050 to 1475 lbs., 40.50 to 44.00; high dressing, 45.00 to 47.00; low dressing, 36.50 to 40.00. Lean, 40 head, 85 to 90% lean, 975 to 1300 lbs., 37.00 to 40.50; high dressing, 41.50 to 43.50; low dressing, 32.50 to 36.00. Light, 48 head, 85 to 90% lean, 675 to 1000 lbs., 30.00 to 33.50; high dressing, 36.50 to 38.00; low dressing, 26.00 to 29.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 19 head, 1225 to 2045 lbs., 55.00; high dressing, 58.50 to 60.50; low dressing, 50.00 to 53.50.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 2 to 5 years old, 950 to 1150 lbs., 4 to 6 months bred, average quality, 610.00 to 680.00.
