Faith livestock auction report

The Faith Livestock Commission Co., Faith, S.D., reported receipts of 1,651 head Nov. 16, compared to 3,467 head last week and 2,312 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Compared to last week, steer and heifer calves sold mostly steady with fewer offerings. There was no recent comparison on replacement cattle as this was the first test in several months. Slaughter cows sold mostly steady to weak. Slaughter bulls sold mostly steady with very limited offerings. Demand was moderate to good for all classes. The supply consisted of 57% feeder cattle, 26 slaughter cows and bulls, and the balance replacement cattle. The feeder cattle supply consisted of 82% steers, 18% heifers, with 6% over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 368 to 370 lbs., 124.00 to 131.50 (130.99); 411 to 426 lbs., 117.00 to 120.00 (118.12); 463 to 495 lbs., 107.00 to 116.75 (113.67); 506 to 544 lbs., 102.00 to 108.75 (106.19); 96 head, 576 lbs., 105.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 19 head, 358 to 374 lbs., 104.00 to 108.00 (107.39); 400 to 437 lbs., 102.00 to 104.50 (103.57); 12 head, 486 to 490 lbs., 95.00; 14 head, 537 to 547 lbs., 92.50 to 94.50 (93.63); 7 head, 821 lbs., 86.00; 7 head, 968 lbs., 84.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1215 to 1855 lbs., 38.50 to 41.75; high dressing, 42.25 to 43.25; low dressing, 37.00 to 38.25. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1110 to 1540 lbs., 38.00 to 41.50; high dressing, 41.75 to 42.00; low dressing, 34.00 to 37.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 970 to 1430 lbs., 36.00 to 39.50; low dressing, 30.50 to 35.75.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1670 to 1950 lbs., 51.00 to 55.00; low dressing, 46.00 to 50.50.

Feeding cows: Cows returning to the country, Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 2 years old 870 to 960 lbs., 82.00 to 85.00; 3 years old, 820 to 1070 lbs., 61.00 to 66.00; young, 915 to 1175 lbs., 47.00 to 56.50; middle-aged to aged, 985 to 1350 lbs., 38.50 to 43.00, thin 34.25 to 37.75.

Replacement bred cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 2 years old, 915 to 985 lbs., 4 to 6 months bred, 835.00 to 910.00; 3 to 4 years old, 1045 to 1160 lbs., 4 to 5 months bred, 935.00 to 1100.00; 4 to 6 years old, 1125 to 1205 lbs., 4 to 5 months bred, 910.00 to 1035.00; 7 to 8 years old, 1270 to 1360 lbs., 5 months bred, 825.00 to 910.00; short solid to broken, 1140 to 1470 lbs., 4 to 5 months bred, 500.00 to 685.00; thin 440.00 to 485.00.
