Wyobraska cattle sales reportThe combined sales volume of Wyoming, western Nebraska, western North and South Dakota feedlots for the week ending Nov. 14, totaled 14,600 head, compared to 10,150 head last week and 14,600 head last year, according to the USDA-Wyoming Department of Agriculture Market News, Torrington, Wyo. Compared to last week at Wyoming Auctions, feeder steers under 600 pounds sold steady to $3 higher, except Riverton was steady to $2 lower and feeder steers at Torrington weighing 550 to 600 pounds were steady to $2 lower. Steers over 600 pounds sold steady to $3 lower, except those at 600 to 650 pounds were $1 to $2 higher in Riverton. Heifers under 700 pounds sold steady to $2 lower, except 400- to 450-pound heifers and 550- to 600-pound heifers in Riverton were $1 to $3 higher, and those over 700 pounds were steady to $3 lower. Demand was moderate to good. Direct trade was slow. Compared to last week there were not enough comparable sales reported for a good price comparison. Demand was light. Unless otherwise noted direct prices were current FOB with a 2 to 3% shrink or equivalent, and with a 5 to 10 cent slide on calves and 3 to 6 cent slide on yearlings from base weight. Steers made up approximately 51% of the total receipts, heifers 49%, with 20% over 600 pounds. Direct sales accounted for 1300 head of the total receipts.
