Arkansas livestock sales summary

The weekly summary of livestock sales in Arkansas for the week ending Nov. 12, showed estimated receipts of 14,010 head Nov. 12, compared to 12,121 head last week and 9,367 head last year, according to the Arkansas Extension Service-USDA Market News, Little Rock, Ark.

Compared to last week, slaughter cows sold $1 to $2 lower. Slaughter bulls sold weak to $2 lower. Feeders sold unevenly, steers under 550 pounds and heifers under 650 pounds sold $1 to $4 lower, while steers over 550 pounds and heifers over 650 pounds sold steady to $2 higher. The supply included 9,085 stocker and feeder calves, 2,625 feeder yearlings, 825 replacement cows, 1,320 slaughter cows, and 155 slaughter bulls. The feeder supply was 41% yearling heifers.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., 35.00 to 41.00; high dressing, 41.00 to 45.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 950 to 1400 lbs., 35.00 to 41.00; high dressing, 41.00 to 48.00; low dressing, 32.00 to 35.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 900 to 1300 lbs., 33.00 to 39.00; high dressing, 39.00 to 43.00; low dressing, 25.00 to 32.00. Light, 85 to 92% lean, 700 to 950 lbs., 25.00 to 31.00; low dressing, 15.00 to 24.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1000 to 2100 lbs., 46.00 to 54.00; high dressing, 54.00 to 57.50; low dressing, 38.00 to 46.00.

Small and medium frame 1 to 2, 5 to 10 years old, 750 to 950 lbs., with 100- to 200-lb. calves, 575.00 to 675.00 per pair few down to 530.00.
