Newell sheep sales report

St. Onge Livestock Co., Ltd., Newell, S.D., reported receipts of 3,086 head Nov. 12, compared to 6,295 head last week and 2,563 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Compared to last week's sale, slaughter ewes sold mostly steady to $2 higher. There was no accurate comparison on feeder lambs due to difference in numbers, but a higher undertone was noted. Buyer attendance was good with good demand. The supply consisted of approximately 37% slaughter ewes and bucks, 63% feeders.

Slaughter ewes: Good 2 to 3, 234 head, 168 lbs., 39.50; 17 head, 203 lbs., 35.00. Utility and Good 1 to 2, 320 head, 150 lbs., 40.75. Utility 1 to 2, 326 head, 132 lbs., 40.50. Cull 1 to 2, 33 head, 115 lbs., 15.00.

Feeder lambs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 97 head, 55 lbs., 119.50; 62 to 63 lbs., 117.50 to 123.00 (122.13); 71 to 77 lbs., 114.50 to 119.00 (116.53); 82 to 88 lbs., 118.50 to 123.25 (121.04); 93 to 95 lbs., 107.00 to 112.50 (111.33); 27 head, 102 lbs., 106.00; 16 head, 118 lbs., 95.50; 52 head, 120 lbs., 94.50 to 95.50 (95.13). Medium 1 to 2, 61 to 66 lbs., 114.00 to 115.00 (114.30); 54 head, 81 lbs., 115.50.
