Clovis livestock sales report

The Clovis Livestock Auction, Clovis, N.M., reported receipts of 4,635 head Nov. 11, compared to 5,090 head last week and 4,045 head last year, according to the USDA-New Mexico Department of Agriculture Market News, Clovis, N.M.

Compared to last week, feeder steers were $1 to $6 lower except those at 400 to 500 pounds were steady, and 500 to 600 pounds were $9 lower. Heifers were $4 to $5 lower. Slaughter cows and bulls were $2 to $3 lower. Trade and demand were moderate. The bulk of the supply was Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 800-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows were 13% of the offering, slaughter bulls less than 1%, bred cows 8%, feeders 79%. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 55% of the run, heifers 45%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 22%.

Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 36.00 to 40.00; low dressing, 27.25 to 34.75; 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 35.00 to 39.25; low dressing, 30.50 to 34.25; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 32.25 to 37.50; low dressing, 26.50 to 31.85; 85 to 90% lean, under 800 lbs., 26.50 to 28.00; low dressing, 23.00 to 25.25.

Holstein slaughter cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1200 to 1905 lbs., 39.10 to 43.25. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 35.00 to 40.25; low dressing, 30.00 to 33.75; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 27.00 to 30.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1300 to 2160 lbs., 50.00 to 55.00; low dressing, 1210 to 2370 lbs., 38.75 to 47.75. Holstein slaughter bulls, Yield grade 1 to 2, 1300 to 2100 lb., 46.25 to 54.00.

Stocker cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 3, bred cows 900 to 1510 lbs., 34.25 to 41.00. Feeder cows, Medium and large frame 1 to 3, few 835 to 1180 lbs., 28.50 to 33.50.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle-aged, 900 to 1395 lbs., 3 to 8 months bred, 550.00 to 750.00, per head; 878 to 1311 lbs., 1 to 3 months bred, 375.00 to 640.00, per head; middle-aged to aged, 940 to 1225 lbs., 3 to 8 months bred, 475.00 to 530.00, per head; aged, 950 to 1340 lbs., 6 to 8 months bred, 385.00 to 515.00 per head.

First-calf heifers: Individual, 1010 lbs., 6 to 8 months bred, 700.00, per head.
