Grain bids all sharply higher

Grains were all sharply higher Nov. 16 as buying spree entered the commodity market with strong outside support from a sharply higher gold market, higher crude oil and a strong rally in the stock market, according to the National Grain Market Summary.

A slumping dollar also lent support to the markets. With another round of rain and in some areas snow across the Midwest delaying corn harvest should continue to support the corn market.

Wheat closed 18 to 29 cents higher. Corn traded 8 to 13 cents higher. Soybeans closed mostly 16 to 25 cents higher.

In the futures close, Kansas City December wheat was $5.60 1/4, up 19 3/4 cents.

Terminal wheat bids, paid for truck delivery, included Kansas City, $5 to $5.05, up 19 cents; Minneapolis, $6.04 1/2, up 18 1/2 cents; Portland, $4.85 to $4.98, unchanged to up 8 cents; St. Louis, $3.87, up 29 cents.

Terminal corn bids, U.S. No. 2 yellow, price paid for truck deliver, included: Kansas City, $3.77, up 11 cents; Minneapolis, $3.57 1/4, up 19 3/4 cents; southern Iowa, $3.75 1/4 to $3.76 3/4, up 13 3/4 to 11 1/4 cents; Omaha, $3.66 to $3.75, up 8 to 11 cents.

Terminal soybean bids, U.S. No. 1, price paid for truck delivery, included: Kansas City, $9.70, up 23 cents; Minneapolis, $9.57, up 35 cents; southern Iowa, $9.79 to $9.81, up 24 to 16 cents; central Illinois processors, $9.95 to $10.20, up 23 to 25 cents.

Kansas City wheat prices Nov. 17, spot, fob track, included: No. 1 hard red winter wheat, ordinary protein, $5.59 to $6.37, up 16 3/4 to 13 3/4 cents; 12% protein, $6.28 to $6.46, up 13 3/4 cents; 13% protein, $6.31 to $6.46, up 13 3/4 cents; 14% protein, $6.31 to $6.46, up 13 3/4 cents. U.S. No. 2 soft red winter wheat was $5.29 to $5.84, up 13 3/4 cents. U.S. No. 2 white corn was $3.95 to $4.03, unchanged.
