Most of state gets some moistureColorado Most of the state received moisture near the end of the week due to a snowstorm, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service, Colorado Field Office, Nov. 16. Winter wheat progressed to 94 percent emerged by the end of the week, 6 percentage points behind the 5-year average. Late season crops continue to be rated in good condition, however, harvest of these crops still falls behind the average due to excess moisture. Sorghum progressed to 54 percent harvested, well behind the average of 79 percent. Corn was 64 percent harvested this week, 22 points behind the 5-year average. Sunflowers, reported at 65 percent harvested, are 25 points behind the average. Dry bean harvest increased to 98 percent complete, while sugar beets were 96 percent harvested, 1 percentage point ahead of the average. Conditions for pasture and range across Colorado remained in good condition for the week. The alfalfa crop was rated in mostly good condition with the fourth cutting 63 percent complete, lagging behind the 5-year average by 32 percentage points. Livestock in Colorado are rated in good condition. Death losses for cattle and sheep were rated average, while stored feed supplies remained above average for this time of the year.
