Hereford show awards presented in Kansas City

Hereford exhibitors were honored for showcasing their breeding programs at national and regional shows throughout the past year. Nov. 1 during the American Royal National Hereford Show in Kansas City, awards for champion Hereford show heifer, show bull and premier exhibitor were presented to recipients in each of four U.S. regions.

To qualify for these prestigious bronzes, exhibitors must have accumulated points and shown at one national and one regional event. Points are calculated throughout the 2008-2009 show season, which runs from the beginning of May to the end of April. The following are the winners for each of the four regions.

Southwest Region

Horned Show Bull of the Year--Megan Holloway, Lake Kiowa, Texas, and Rotello Cattle Co., Navasota, Texas, with CSH MH Buster 147.

Horned Show Heifer of the Year--Taylor Schrick, Sayre, Okla., with C Chanel ET

Horned Premier Exhibitor--Gary & Kathy Buchholz, Bardwell, Texas

Polled Show Bull of the Year--Jaye & Sue Decker, La Plata, N.M.; Cottonwood Springs Farm, Cedar, Mich.; Barber Ranch, Channing, Texas; and Don Moler, Cheyenne, Okla., with DM BR Imax 666 ET.

Polled Show Heifer of the Year--Kirbie Day, Waxahachie, Texas, with BR KLD Rose Marie D79 ET.

Polled Premier Exhibitor--Star Lake Cattle Ranch, Skiatook, Okla.

Southeast Region

Horned Show Bull of the Year--Four L Hereford Farm, Atwood, Tenn.; Hart Hereford Farm, Jackson, Tenn.; and Stan Foster, Paragould, Ark., with Four L Odyssey 7059T.

Horned Show Heifer of the Year--Randa Owen, Ft. Payne, Ala., with DeLHawk Purple Treasure 0805 ET.

Horned Premier Exhibitor--Four L Hereford Farm

Polled Show Bull of the Year--Randa Owen with RRO TRM 94K Radan 7210 ET.

Polled Show Heifer of the Year--Randa Owen with RRO TRM 3195 Steffi 8002 ET.

Horned Show Heifer of the Year--Grant and Mitchell Reeve, Eagle, Idaho, with C Ms Maui Jim 7231 ET.

Horned Premier Exhibitor--Colyer Herefords

Polled Show Bull of the Year--Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kan.; Shamrock Cattle Co., Lohrville, Iowa; and R. Schlegel & Sons, Olney, Texas, with KSU Wildcat 656 ET.

Polled Show Heifer of the Year--Blake Tucker, North Platte, Neb.; Ward Ranch, McAlester, Okla.; and Hoffman Herefords, Thedford, Neb., with C Ms Absolute 7111 ET.

Northeast Region

Horned Show Bull of the Year--Hunter Hamilton, Heltonville, Ind., and Chad Wilson, Cloverdale, Ind., with WCC WOF Ironman U302.
