Firm plans meatpacking plant in BismarckBISMARCK, N.D. (AP)--A company is looking for a site in the Bismarck-Mandan area for a meatpacking plant that could slaughter up to 800 cattle a day and export 60 percent of the beef to South Korea. Hank Imm is the executive vice president of FK Corp. USA Inc. He said the company has been working with state officials on a site and a business plan. He said a site has not yet been chosen. Imm said the company wants to process and package the beef at the same site. He said the plant could employ around 370 people at full capacity and would ensure a "dependable and consistent quality'' of beef for the Korean market. A feasibility study is expected to be finished this summer. Russ Staiger, president of the Bismarck-Mandan Development Association, said it would give state cattle ranchers a "market literally in their back yard.''
