Limousin, Lim-Flex parade in Kansas City

The American Royal's Limousin show was Oct. 30 in Kansas City, Mo. The American Royal is one of the North American Limousin Foundation's four major Medal of Excellence shows.

In the Lim-Flex show, judge Brandon Callis, College Station, Texas, evaluated 18 females and eight bulls. He then sorted 19 Limousin females and five Limousin bulls.

In the Limousin bull show, CLLL HAHK The Apprentice won the grand champion banner after winning Division 3. Magness Land and Cattle, Platteville, Colo., and Hayhook Limousin, Lexington, Okla., own the Sept. 23, 2007, son of MNWS Frontier 507R.

The reserve grand champion Limousin bull was MAGSWL Usual Suspect 538U, the Division 2 champion. The Nov. 5, 2008, son of MAGS Sasquatch belongs to Magness Land and Cattle and Wies Limousin Ranch, Wellsville, Mo.

CFLX Mollys Image, the winner of Division 5, went on to claim the title of grand champion Limousin female. Austen Etherton, Dawson, Ill., owns the Jan. 31, 2008, daughter of DHVO Deuce 132R.

EXLR Sheza 280U followed her win in Division 3 by claiming reserve grand champion Limousin female. Jordan Leatherman, Muskogee, Okla., owns the Sept. 27, 2008, daughter of Carrousels Pure Power.

Grand champion honors in the Lim-Flex bull show went to AUTO Real Limits 144T, the Division 6 winner and a Sept. 18, 2007, son of Carrousels Pure Power out of EXLR Rebeca 1019P. King Limousin Farm, Fair Grove, Mo., owns him.

Magness Land and Cattle owns the reserve grand champion Lim-Flex bull. MAGS Unparalleled, a Sept. 5, 2008, son of GPFF Blaque Rulon out of MAGS Rockcress, first won Division 3.

KRVN Unique Lady 525U came from Division 5 to win grand champion Lim-Flex female. Magness Land and Cattle and Coyote Hills Ranch, Chattanooga, Okla., own the March 11, 2008, daughter of LH Rodemaster 338R out of KRVN Nandina 305N.

JW Summitcrest Erica 4130 claimed reserve grand champion Lim-Flex female for Shane Harrison, Minier, Ill. The Division 6 winner is an Oct. 14, 2007, daughter of EF Main Stay 541M out of B L R Erica 7086.

Magness Land and Cattle claimed both the Premier Breeder and Premier Exhibitor honors.

In the juniors' female show, judge Jirl Buck, Madill, Okla., selected EXLR Rebeca 097U--a March 7, 2008, daughter of Carrousels Pure Power--as grand champion from among 10 entries. Ryan Callahan, Edmond, Okla., led her from the Division 2 championship. EF Up To The Challenge--a Feb. 8, 2008, daughter of MNWS Frontier 507R--was reserve grand champion and Division 3 champion for Rachel Booth, Miami, Okla.

The North American Limousin Foundation (www.nalf.org), headquartered in Centennial, Colo., provides programs and services--including genetic evaluation of 5,000 active sires--to more than 4,000 members and their commercial customers. The Limousin breed and its Lim-Flex hybrid lead the beef industry in muscle-growth efficiency and ideally complement British breeds.
