Salers host show at American RoyalForty-two breeders from 12 states paraded their best genetics at the American Royal Salers Livestock Show, Kansas City, Mo. on Oct. 28. The Open and Optimizer Shows were judged by Travis Pembroke, Fairview, Okla. In the Optimizer Heifer Show. GGT P Blk Knockout 383U, a February 2008 heifer sired by GGT P Blk Heavy Hitter, owned by Kylie Werth of Quinter, Kan., won the Grand Champion Optimizer Heifer. Taking home Reserve Grand Champion Optimizer Heifer was, DWB Sweet Honey 27W, a March 2009 heifer sired by GEF Dirty Harry and owned by White's Hypoint Salers, Lancaster, Wis. Next up was the Optimizer Bull Show where Breanna Duncan, Marlow, Okla., took Grand Champion Optimizer Bull. 3D Dual Force, a November 2008 bull, was sired by 3D Icon. After some deliberation Pembroke awarded Grand Champion Salers Female to H&S Miss Tootsie, earlier named Grand Champion Cow-Calf pair, born March 24, 2007, sired by H&S Mac and owned by H&S Farms, Baltimore, Ohio. Reserve Champion Salers Female went to JCGC Wiggles 921W, earlier named Junior Heifer Calf Champion, born January 2009, sired by JFW Packer 40F, and owned by Jo C.G. Colmore, Rising Fawn, Ga.
Salers Heifer Division Champions: Competition in the Salers Heifer Show was tough. Spring Heifer Champion was H&S Miss Wee Pee, May 2009, daughter of H&S Tonka, owned by H&S Farms, Baltimore, Ohio. Reserve Spring Heifer Champion was presented to SSSF DTC Blk Pld Lou 25W, born May 8, a daughter of SRS Masterlink 9145C, owned by Todd Gustafson, Kearney, Mo,, and Diamond T Salers, Osage, Kan. Reserve Junior Heifer Calf Champion went to JCGC Wendie 996W, born January 2009, sired by Legend's Reward and owned by Jo C. G. Colmore, Rising Fawn, Ga. CVF Unleashed 02U, born September 2008, daughter of JGK Print Out 515P, owned by Lane A. Nolting, Stover, Mo,, was the Senior Heifer Calf Champion while Reserve Senior Heifer Calf Champion was another Jo Colmore calf JCGC U'Lovely 863U, born October 2008 and sired by HUBB Pld Cowboy 21N. Yearling Heifer Grand Champion was 3D Ebony Velvet, a March 2008 heifer, sired by 3D Pld Blk Power On, owned by Breanna Duncan, Marlow, Okla. This close competition resulted in DTS Blk Pld Dutches, an April 2008 heifer sired by AP Polled Genesis XZ64F, owned by Diamond T Salers, Osage, Kan., and Roger Betts, Bella Vista, Ark., receiving Reserve Grand Champion. Closing out the heifer division was the Senior Champion Heifer H&S Miss Toots, born October 2007, the daughter of H&S Mac, owned by Mason, Andrew and Perry Love, Baltimore, Ohio. JCGC Ursula 856U, a January 2008 daughter of Legend's Reward, owned by Sarah Bush, Blairstown, Mo., was the Reserve Senior Champion. In the bull show Division Champions and Reserve Champions were paraded through the ring once again to find out who would become the Grand Champion Salers Bull. Two GGT bred bulls took the show. Grand Champion Salers Bull went to GGT P Blk Enforcer 300U, earlier named Junior Champion Bull, a February 2008 bull, co-owned by GG&T Cattle Co., Elm Creek Ranch, Hebron, N.D., and Rust Mountain View Ranch, Turtle Lake, N.D., and sired by GGT P Blk Predator 223N. Reserve Champion Salers Bull went to GGT P Bk Backlash 170U, earlier named Reserve Junior Champion Bull, a January 2008 bull sired by AP Polled Genesis XZ64F, also co-owned by GG&T, Elm Creek and Rust Mountain View Ranch.
Salers Bull Division Champions: The Spring Bull Calf Champion was DJF Whiskey River 9006W, born March 2009, sired by JSR Jamaca 431 and owned by Silver Spur Salers, Maryville, Mo. Reserve Champion went to Whitneys Trail Boss Pld. Born April 2009, sired by M&M Maximillion 208 and owned by M&M Stock Farm, Earling, Iowa. A January 2009 bull came out on top in the Junior Bull Calf division. 3D Rhino, sired by 3D Icon, owned by Breanna Duncan was the Grand Champion. Reserve Junior Bull Calf Champion was a GGT P Red Fire 119T offspring, SSS Mr Wisdom 939W, born February 2009, and owned by Gary and Elizabeth Salyers, Billings, Mo. The Senior Bull Calf Champion was JCGC Unmatched 820U, a September 2008 bull sired by MAC Neutron 94N, owned by Colmore Farms. This was a single entry. Grand Champion Get-of-Sire, GG&T Land and Cattle Company, AP Polled Genesis XZ64F. Grand Champion Produce-of-Dam, H&S Farms, LCF Virginia Dare. Reserve Produce-of-Dam, Andrew Crawford, LARU Crissi 580. Grand Champion Best Five Head, Breanna Duncan. Reserve Best Five Head, Colmore Farms.
