Springfield livestock auction reportThe Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Mo., reported receipts of 1,645 head Oct. 28, compared to 2,171 head last week and 2,190 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo. Compared to last week, steer calves were $1 to $3 lower, yearling steers were steady to $2 higher on a light test, Holsteins under 600 pounds were $2 to $5 lower, 600 to 800 pounds were $1 to $2 lower, over 800 pounds were $1 to $2 higher, heifer calves were steady to $2 lower, yearling heifers were $1 to $3 lower on a light test. Demand and supply were moderate. The bulk of the offering were un-weaned calves and Holstein steers. Soggy pastures and muddy lots kept some producers from marketing their cattle. The feeder supply included 37% steers, 21% Holsteins, 36%heifers, 6% bulls, with 43% over 600 pounds.
