Springfield livestock auction report

The Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Mo., reported receipts of 1,645 head Oct. 28, compared to 2,171 head last week and 2,190 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo.

Compared to last week, steer calves were $1 to $3 lower, yearling steers were steady to $2 higher on a light test, Holsteins under 600 pounds were $2 to $5 lower, 600 to 800 pounds were $1 to $2 lower, over 800 pounds were $1 to $2 higher, heifer calves were steady to $2 lower, yearling heifers were $1 to $3 lower on a light test. Demand and supply were moderate. The bulk of the offering were un-weaned calves and Holstein steers. Soggy pastures and muddy lots kept some producers from marketing their cattle. The feeder supply included 37% steers, 21% Holsteins, 36%heifers, 6% bulls, with 43% over 600 pounds.

Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 425 to 500 lbs., 94.00 to 103.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 86.00 to 96.00; 600 to 625 lbs., calves 86.00 to 88.00, package 692 lbs., 91.00; 700 to 725 lbs., 84.00 to 90.00; 800 to 900 lbs., 82.00 to 91.00. Large frame 1, package 398 lbs., 92.00; 425 to 475 lbs., 99.00 to 104.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 88.00 to 96.00; 600 to 700 lbs., calves 82.50 to 89.00, package 738 lbs., 82.00. Holsteins, Large frame 3, 350 to 375 lbs., 73.00 to 80.00; 425 to 475 lbs., 67.00 to 73.00; 525 to 600 lbs., 63.50 to 72.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 62.00 to 65.50; 700 to 725 lbs., 64.50 to 65.50; 800 to 900 lbs., 63.00 to 65.00; lot 940 lbs., 63.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 375 to 400 lbs., 92.00 to 93.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 84.00 to 94.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 82.00 to 89.50; 600 to 675 lbs., 83.00 to 86.50, calves 80.00 to 86.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 82.50 to 83.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 325 to 400 lbs., 84.50 to 97.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 78.00 to 89.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 79.00 to 86.00; 600 to 625 lbs., calves 79.50 to 82.50, 650 to 700 lbs., 75.00 to 81.00; 725 to 775 lbs., 75.00 to 77.00. Medium and large frame 2, 350 to 375 lbs., few 80.00; package 425 lbs., 87.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 75.00 to 80.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 72.00 to 77.50; package 747 lbs., 72.00.
