North Arkansas livestock sales report

The North Arkansas Livestock, Green Forest, Ark., reported receipts of 935 head Oct. 28, compared to 1,032 head last week and 1,383 head last year, according to the Arkansas Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Little Rock, Ark.

Compared to last week, slaughter cows were steady. Slaughter bulls were $1 higher. Feeders were mixed, generally steady to $3 higher with some yearling steers $5 to $7 higher. The supply included about 516 feeder calves, 300 feeder yearlings, 40 replacement cows, 69 slaughter cows, 9 slaughter bulls, and 1 replacement bull. The feeder supply included 46% steers, 44% heifers, and 10% bulls, with nearly 51% of the run over 600 pounds.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., 44.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 950 to 1400 lbs., 39.00 to 43.00; high dressing, 43.50 to 46.25. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 900 to 1300 lbs., 37.00 to 41.00; high dressing, 42.00 to 45.75; low dressing, 28.00 to 33.00. Light, 85 to 92% lean, 700 to 950 lbs., 30.00 to 34.50; low dressing, 16.00 to 27.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1000 to 2100 lbs., 54.00 to 57.00; high dressing, 57.50 to 61.00.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 375 to 390 lbs., 112.00 to 115.00 (113.47); 400 to 435 lbs., 108.00 to 114.00 (109.76); 455 to 480 lbs., 100.00 to 108.00 (102.77); 502 to 535 lbs., 92.00 to 100.00 (99.31); 578 to 590 lbs., 93.00 to 95.00 (94.49); 583 to 583 lbs., fleshy 83.00; 600 to 630 lbs., 92.00 to 98.50 (94.50); 653 to 695 lbs., 88.00 to 94.00 (91.16); 708 to 727 lbs., 88.00 to 97.00 (90.38); 820 to 831 lbs., 90.00 to 92.00 (90.96); 1065 lbs., 80.00. Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 2 to 7 years old, 900 to 1200 lbs., second stage, 500.00 to 680.00 per head; first stage, 450.00 to 680.00 per head; open 40.00 to 46.00; 7 to 10 years old, second and third stage, 510.00 to 610.00 per head.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 7 to 10 years old, 900 to 1200 lbs., with 100- to 300-lb. calves, 600.00 to 800.00 per pair.
